Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Napster is a music downloads site that adopts its name from the file-sharing service that was popular from 1999 to 2001. It doesn't share anything in common with the old service besides its name and iconic logo, which were bought by website founder Roxio when the old Napster was forced to sell off its assets after a court found it responsible for illegal copyright infringement.

Since then, the legal version of Napster has been purchased by Best Buy, and it remains one of the largest premium music sites on the internet, though its audience is no where near as large as was the audience for the file-sharing service.

The current Napster is a subscription listening site. For $12.95 per month, you can listen to the entire library of streaming music as much as you want, and you also get a discount on purchasing DRM-free song downloads. If you're not a subscriber, you can still download songs, but without the discount.

Napster also runs a site called Free Napster, which lets you listen to each song in the library online up to three times without charge.
