Google Nexus One and HTC Supersonic 4G smartphone heading to Sprint

Hotmail, originally founded in 1996, is a service that manages your e-mail over the web. You're given an e-mail address (usually @hotmail.com), and you can log into the site and send and receive messages from any computer. The service was purchased by Microsoft in 1997 and renamed to MSN Hotmail, and later renamed Windows Live Hotmail when it was integrated with other Windows Live web services. Colloquially, most people still refer to it as Hotmail.

Hotmail is similar to other webmail services like Yahoo! Mail and Gmail. However, it does have some unique features. For example, you can play audio files like MP3s from within the web application. So if a friend sends you an audio clip, you can listen to it without downloading it and opening it in another program. You can also send voicemails to your contacts by this method.

Hotmail resembles many non-web based e-mail programs in that it divides the mail browsing area into two panes so you can read e-mails while simultaneously looking at and browsing the list of messages in your inbox.

Hotmail is a free, ad-supported service, but a premium version sans ads is available for $19.95 per month. It was originally the most popular webmail service, but it has been surpassed by Yahoo! Mail in recent years.
