Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Amazon, originally launched in 1995, is an online retailer for a wide variety of products such as books, software, and electronics. It is currently the largest online retailer, both in terms of purchases and in inventory offered. Amazon's global headquarters are located in Seattle, Washington. Amazon has spread internationally, with the different regional versions of Amazon having headquarters located in their respective countries.

Amazon's site revolves around a database of items separated into categories. Shoppers can browse through different categories or search for a specific item. Items have a large amount of information, such as descriptions and features, technical specifications, user reviews, and a recommendations system based on what products were purchased alongside that particular item. Items can be physical products, such as a DVD set, or digital, in the case of the Kindle and MP3 stores. Once an item (or collection of items) has been found, the user then "checks out" much like any normal store.

Users can do two things to a product: apply tags and review. Tags are simple, consisting of a few words that help define the item. Reviews are just that: reviews of those that have purchased the item. Reviews assign a number of stars to the item and describe why the score was given. Other users may then rate reviews on their usefulness and accuracy, bringing the best reviews to the top of the pile. Abusive or offensive reviews are deleted by the staff regularly.
