The LaCie Little Big Disk is a 500GB storage device featuring built-in RAID 0 for faster storage, support for Mac OS and Windows XP operating systems, and backup software for both Mac and Windows systems. The portable hard drive has two FireWire 800 ports, one FireWire 400 port, and a USB 2.0 port, with a 16 MB cache and a maximum transfer speed of 7200 rpm.
The Little Big Disk is made with an aluminum body designed to function as a heat sink, siphoning away excess heat to quiet the drive. While it is FireWire-bus powered, the drive is not USB-bus powered, so those using USB connections will need an adapter. The portable drive comes in smaller, less expensive sizes, including 160GB, 200GB, and 320GB. The price for the 500GB is $399.99.
