Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Apple's Time Capsule is a both a wireless router and a backup storage device. Its wireless functionality is similar to that of Apple's Airport Extreme; it's a hub that connects to the internet via an Ethernet cable, and wirelessly connects to all your computers (thereby connecting them to the internet and one another) over 802.11 a, b, g, or n Wi-Fi. Additionally, it has either a 2 TB ($499 ) or 1 TB ($299) hard drive built in. A 500 GB ($299) model was discontinued with the introduction of the 2 TB model in late July 2009, but it may still be available for $199 in the Apple outlet store.

Whichever size of hard drive oyu get, you can manually back up your files on it, transferring them over the wireless connection, but Mac users can also use Mac OS X's Time Machine software to perform this task automatically.

Thanks to an update in March of 2009, Time Capsule can actually host two separate Wi-Fi networks simultaneously with its dual-band radio. And a further update in October of 2009 added an improved antenna design that makes the router 25% faster, according to Apple, who also promise 60% faster backups from your laptop or desktop.
