Internet Explorer, developed by Microsoft, is a web browser packaged with the Windows operating system. Also known as IE, Internet Explorer offers a standard range of features for a web browser (including such things as tabbed browsing, website icons, and temporary file cashing) and, for many, it was the first browser they used to surf the internet. In terms of market share, Internet Explorer is overwhelmingly in the lead at 70%, possibly due to its packing as a part of Windows, with Firefox and Safari being the second- and third- largest, respectively.
