iPhoto '09 is part of of Apple's iLife '09 image software suite and is used to collect, tag, and management photographs. Users can organize their photo libraries by events, create an online photo gallery, and create slideshows, books, and calendars with the program. iPhoto '09 adds the ability to organize photos by Faces and Places. Faces is powered by face detection so that images with faces can be automatically identified, and different faces can be assigned specific tags so viewers can conduct searches for similar faces and get a display of a corkboard-style view of your favorite people. With Places, Apple has given iPhoto '09 geotagging abilities that tag an image based on where it was taken, with options for the photographer to edit in personal geotags if their camera is not compatible. The software also offers support for both Facebook and Flickr so users can share photos and access more information about their subjects, and adds new slideshow themes with the ability to save slideshows directly to iTunes or saved as movie files for playback on the iPhone or iPod touch.
