Apple Safari is the default web browser of Apple Mac computers. It's also available freely available for computers running Windows operating systems, XP and later.

Its features are comparable to those of competitors such as Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer (Windows only). Those features include tabbed browsing, RSS feed reading, bookmark management, privacy mode (for viewing websites without recording a browsing history), as-you-type search of text and bookmarks, font smoothing, password management, and pop-up blocking.

On February 24th of 2009, Apple released the public beta test version of Safari 4, which added Cover Flow browsing for bookmarks, full page zoom, speed enhancements, and a mode that makes the browser blend in with the Windows operating system better. At Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference on June 8, 2009, Safari 4 came out of beta and was released to the public.

A study performed in February of 2009 found that Safari makes up just under 10% of the browser market, taking third place behind Firefox (22%) and Internet Explorer (67%).
