Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

ViewSonic's PJD6221 may not attract a lot of attention with its arcane branding, but it's actually somewhat exceptional. It's a 3D projector (yep, like the movie theaters), and those aren't all that common in homes yet. This model is aimed at general home use, with special emphasis on gamers since 3D technology is more widespread in video games than it is in home theater right now.

One of the most notable features is RJ45 network management software, which lets you control the projector for networked devices.

It also makes a name for itself with a short throw ratio (.68). Other specs include a standard 1024 x 768 resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 2,800:1 contrast ratio. Composite, S-Video, and VGA cable connections are all included, but you won't get component or HDMI here. You can do multiple displays via VGA, though.

Both NVIDIA's gamer-centric 3D Vision technology and the more general-use DLP Link tech from Texas Instruments are supported for that 3D experience. Look for this on the shelves come July with a suggested retail price of $899, $50 steeper than the similar PJD6211 model, which lacks the network management support.
