BenQ's GP1 mini LED projector features 15 to 80-inch projection size and a compact framework designed to fit in your hand. BenQ has given the mini projector a USB port so you can attach external storage devices without needing a constant computer link. It comes with a brightness rating of about 100 lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and an SVGA resolution. Since the projector is LED-based, there is no lamp or lamp life, and the image projects naturally in the 4:3 video format, though you can choose to use the 16:9 ratio as well. The GP1 supports JPG, GIF, BMP, and TIFF images along with MPEG-1 and MJPEG files for video. For connections, you get D-Sub (which will accept a component signal via a component to VGA cable), composite, and PC audio ports. When the projector comes out in June 2009, it will have a retail price of about $499.
Check the Product Details page for an amusingly stick-figure laden trailer for the GP1. If you're willing to share a story on the topic of "frugal and fun," BenQ is running a contest for sharing your story where you can win a GP1 and assorted cash prizes.
