The Tonium Pacemaker is a portable handheld DJ system and hard-drive based media player. It's a bit like having two iPods in one device with the ability to crossfade between them, as well as apply a number of effects and perform beatmatching functions as one could do with a complete DJ system. It has an LCD screen at the top with a circular touchpad control underneath, with two central buttons for controlling which of the two audio channels you're currently manipulating. The Pacemaker syncs with software on your Mac or PC to synchronize tracks as well as analyze their beats per minute (BPM) for beatmatching purposes.
The Pacemaker 666 is an update to its older sibling released in 2008 with a 120 GB internal hard drive; the new model is a less expensive "lite" version with 60 GB storage, auto-beatmatching functions and less bundled accessories for a reported street price of about $499, available May 4, 2009. Check the Product Details tab for some demo and review videos of the device.
[Update 5/4/2009]: The Pacemaker is now available exclusively from Amazon's Electronics store for $499.
