Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Announced on October 2, 2008, the Sony Reader PRS-700 is a touchscreen-capable addition to their Portable Reader System line of electronic book readers featuring e-ink technology. For about $100 more than the non-touchscreen PRS-505, the PRS-700 features a light for reading in the dark, allows readers to take notes with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard, and allows readers to flip through virtual pages with either their fingers or a stylus that also allows for highlighting text. The Sony Reader PRS-700 is powered by a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery that can support up to 7500 digital page turns per charge. Weighing just 9 ounces with on-board storage capable of holding up to 350 eBooks and an expansion slot capable of supporting up to 2GB SD cards or 8GB Memory Stick Duo cards, the Sony Reader PRS-700 can serve as a portable library holding thousands of books. The Sony Reader's major competitor is the Amazon Kindle.
