This portable media player hasn't been announced yet, but it was accidentally leaked by UK online retailer Play. While some details were missing in the product page that slipped out, a lot of specs were included.
We know, for example, that the Samsung YP-R1 has a 2.7-inch display with a resolution of 400 x 240 pixels and a touchscreen interface. Using that interface and screen, you can play audio and video files in an impressive array of formats, including MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC, AAC, MPEG-4, WMV, H.264, DivX, Xvid, and RMVB. The breadth of supported codecs is clearly the big draw here.
The YP-R1 also features eight gigabytes of storage, an unspecified TV-out port, Bluetooth connectivity, the ability to read e-books, an FM tuner, and some games.
The release date leaked by play is July 30th, 2009, but that could be bogus, and no price was revealed.
