The Zune 4 was a 16 GB portable media player from Microsoft. The device supported AAC, MP3, MWA, and WMA lossless music files, JPEG images, and WMV, H.264, MPEG-4, and DVR-MS video files.

The Zune had touch controls for navigation. A built-in FM tuner allowed you to not only listen to FM radio, but also to "buy-from-FM." A song broadcast to the player could be identified and tagged for download next time the Zune connected to a computer.

The player synced with a PC to update its media collection and could access the Zune Marketplace via an 802.11b/g wireless connection from up to 30 feet from the computer. The Zune could also be connected to an Xbox 360 and play music, pictures, and video in the Xbox Dashboard.

Available with a wide variety of accessories, the Zune had a 1.8-inch color LCD with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution.

On September 2nd, 2009, Microsoft said that the Zune had been discontinued to pave the way for the launch of its successor, the Zune HD.
