The iPad has landed.

Officially announced in Japan on March 18, 2009, Fujitsu's FLEPia ebook reader is notable for being the first color e-paper mobile device. The FLEPia is capable of displaying up to 260,000 colors on its 8-inch screen in a high-definition resolution of 768 x 1,014 (XGA). Fujitsu claims that the FLEPia offers up to 40 hours of continuous battery operation, which is roughly 2,400 page turns at 1 page per minute displaying a maximum of 64 colors. The FLEPia also features Bluetooth connectivity and high-speed wireless LAN and can be connected to a computer via USB mini-B. The device also includes a SD-card slot, stereo-speakers with text-to-speech capabilities, and a touch screen with digital pen. In addition to supporting both XMDF and .book e-book formats, the FLEPia also features Windows CE5.0 Japanese version that makes the device a more fully functional computer like device, complete with an internet browser, e-mail, and various software including support for Microsoft Office. Currently the device is available for pre-order in Japan with an expected arrival date of April 20, 2009, at a price of 99,750 JPY, which is the equivalent of about $1012 U.S. dollars at current exchange rates.
