Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The eSlick is a portable document reader by the creators of Foxit Reader, the PDF document reading application. Designed to compete with the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Reader, the eSlick offers a 600 x 800 pixel display with a resolution of 166 dpi, and four levels of grayscale, comparable to the Kindle. While the eSlick lacks the Kindle's QWERTY keyboard, it does feature MP3 playback, and includes 128MB of onboard memory, with a 2GB SD-card and an expansion slot that can accommodate cards up to 4GB. The eSlick is primarily a PDF reader, but its included PDF Creator software (not part of the device itself) can convert TXT, PPT, DOC, XLS, and HTML formats into PDFs. The eSlick uses a rechargeable battery, and touts the ability to read 8,000 pages on a single charge; the device will recharge in three hours. The Foxit eSlick measures 7.4 inches tall by 4.7 inches wide by 0.4 inches thick, and weighs 6.4 ounces.
