Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The Astak EZ Reader Pocket PRO features a five inch 8-level grayscale e-ink screen, support for over 20 DRM-free file formats, support for DRM PDF files, text-to-speech, a 400MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, an SD expansion slot, a replaceable battery capable of a claimed 8,000 page turns per charge, and an integrated MP3 player.

The reader was initially priced at $199, in an attempt to challenge Amazon's Kindle 2 with a price point $100 less than the Kindle, but at launch it looks like it's actually $249. It's good that it's still cheaper, though, since it lacks the wireless connectivity of the Kindle as well as integration with any sort of dedicated store.

The full announcement press release is available below. The Astak EZ Reader Pocket PRO is available to order from NewEgg now for $249.99.
