Soon you'll be able to use iTunes without downloading any software, and you'll probably be able to stream your purchases from anywhere.

When Apple bought music streaming service Lala, we speculated that a web-based version of iTunes was imminent. Now the Wall Street Journal says that "people familiar with the matter" have confirmed that iTunes is going into the cloud.

That means you won't have to install the iTunes software on your computer to download songs. Apple will probably also preserve Lala's web-based streaming model; you'll be able to stream songs you've purchased from anywhere.

If you're lucky, Apple will keep the 10 cents per song rate that Lala has now, and you'll be able to listen on your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS. We'll find out for sure soon enough.

That's an incredible feature Apple is releasing.
