The Xbox 360 added Facebook and Twitter functionality last week, and Microsoft (naturally) reports that the new social media features have been a resounding success. Microsoft rep David Dennis said that two million people accessed Facebook with their Xbox 360s last week. 500,000 signed up for social music service Last.fm in the first 24 hours that it was available on the 360. He failed to specify how many people have tweeted from the 360, though.

It remains to be seen if people will keep using these features, though. A lot of folks undoubtedly plugged in for the novelty of doing social networking on a game console, but why would you do it through a limited console interface when you have a laptop nearby?
