Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote a note announcing that there are a staggering 300 million Facebook users worldwide. He claims that's the number of active users, not the total number who've signed up, though he doesn't say exactly how Facebook determines who is active and who is not.

Microsoft has promised to launch Facebook and Twitter apps for the just-released Zune HD portable media player by the end of this year.

Blockbuster let investors know this morning that it will close at least 810 and as many as 960 stores by the end of 2010. Many of its stores are losing money — probably due in part to the poor economy, and to competition from Netflix — so this move is being made to increase profit margins. We don't know if your local store is closing yet, but in all likelihood you'll find out within a year or so.
