Radio Shack was a cornerstone of electronics retail for decades, but it has waned in recent years. Hoping to reverse that, the corporation has teased on the internet that it plans to re-brand the franchise as "The Shack." That alone won't help turn things around, but it sounds like the company is planning to shake up its business in other ways to compete directly with Best Buy, especially now that Circuit City is no longer filling that space.

In order to compete with AT&T's reduced iPhone 3G pricing ($99), Verizon has slashed the prices of all but two of its smartphones to $99 or less with a two-year contract.

YouTube has implemented a new feature called News Near You. When it finds out your location, it provides a channel of news videos from your hometown. YouTube hopes some of these will come from real local TV stations. So far, though, it's mostly independent fare.
