Despite the fact that they've transformed the way we see the world and entertain ourselves, online video portals in general haven't seen a lot of financial success. Joost, one of the biggest players, just pulled out of the game. So why did Hulu succeed? The New York Times says it's more because the site offers exclusive, professional-quality content than because of any tech industry savvy.
