The iPhone Dev Team hacker group has successfully managed to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS so that users can install 3rd party software on the device and access parts of the iPhone 3GS's operations that Apple normally keeps walled off. However, the Dev Team is not releasing the jailbreak at this time for fears that Apple would easily patch the exploit they are using to gain access to the device and waiting longer will mean more exploitable iPhone 3GSs available in the wild.
