German-owned and Switzerland-hosted file-sharing site RapidShare, which is often used to illegally share copyrighted material, has been ordered by German courts to pay a €24 million (a bit under $34 million) fine. It will also be forced to filter content to appease copyright holders represented by the GEMA, a German music industry group.
