AT&T iPhone data tethering plan to be $55 monthly?

Unless it includes the regular data plan, it's still too much.

There's been a bunch of rumour and speculation on this ever since AT&T promised "data tethering is coming," and a new "inside source" puts the monthly price point for the forthcoming iPhone tethering plan at $55. Though it's less than the $70 originally rumoured, unless it includes either the existing phone data plan or SMS/MMS (or ideally, both), it's still too high. John Gruber agrees.

Another failed opportunity for AT&T to not be a corporate monster. In today's economics times, it would of been nice to open up this option as an addition to the forced unlimited data plan the Iphone requires. Can they literally suck every last penny out of their customers? With the momentum the iPhone brings to AT&T, this would have been an easy thank you to their new and existing customers who had to sign up for TWO YEARS. These same customers who are consolidating their services they are subscribing to with the intention of surviving this and maybe even feeding their families this week. Hopefully, they'll smarten up, pull their fangs out a little and help their clients survive this nonsense that is thrust upon us by this same thinking.
