This chart would have made chemistry class far more interesting.

Flickr user Pixel Fantasy created this "periodic table" of game console controllers stretching all the way back into the hazy reaches of history to the venerable Atari Pong (remember back when a moving pixel could keep us entertained for hours?) and the Magnavox Odyssey. In addition to picturing the button and control scheme layouts, each cell includes the names of the systems' creators and the console's CPU information, where available. It's a work in progress, so if you have information to contribute to the chart you can leave a comment here, or grab a high resolution image of the table here. We're pretty sure Mendeleev would be proud.
