Live in the United Kingdom or the Netherlands? Great. You should know you don't have to leave your house again. Ever. Google's Street View — a feature in Google Maps and Google Earth which lets you look at ground-level photos taken from almost every street in a city — has launched for both of those countries, so you can walk through London or Amsterdam without peeling yourself away from your computer screen. We suppose it can be useful for finding your way around too!

According to the BBC, Google had to make some concessions in the UK, including blurring license plates and faces to protect privacy. There are still some opponents who believe that Street View is illegal or inappropriate, but Google is standing its ground.

Google Street View now covers areas in nine countries: the United States, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. We're taking bets on which country will get the ol' Google drive-by next. Deutschland, anyone?
