The Apple Store returned from its earlier hiatus to reveal a brand new iPod shuffle. Holding 4GBs worth of music (approximately 1000 songs) and with no screen or controls on the device itself aside from a single switch on the top to turn it off and on, the new iPod shuffle is controlled via controls included in the cord of the new earbuds that come with the device.
The most notable feature of this new diminutive iPod is the new VoiceOver feature that speaks the title and musician associated with the song currently playing and also speaks your playlists aloud to you for song navigation. The new iPod shuffle still comes with the clip for attaching to your clothes, measures 1.8 inches tall by 0.7 inch wide by 0.3 inch thick, weighs only 0.38 of an ounce, comes in both a silver aluminum finish and a black aluminum finish, and is priced at $79.
Apple has a full video tour of the new device available on their site, and according to the Apple Store the new 4GB iPod shuffle should ship in the next 3-5 days. Also, the previous generation of the iPod shuffle is still available for order for $49.
