Nokia's 5800 XpressMusic cell phone looked pretty sweet to us; it was supposed to stand up to the iPhone and other personal media smartphones, and the features lived up to the challenge. Problem was, the 5800 had two serious technical problems right out the door. The earpiece speaker had a nasty tendency to short out in the rain (the problem's been fixed, so you can contact Nokia for a replacement if it's been plaguing you), and the phone had some troubles connecting to the 3G data networks in New York and Chicago.

As a result, the company pulled it from the shelves and fixed the problem. Turns out it was a simple problem with the way the phone's software was configured. Oops. All's well now, though. After announcing that sales would resume, Nokia said: "Those few customers of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic who experience a 3G signal issue are advised to contact Nokia Customer Care."

Okay, so if you bought one of these things on day one, you might be a little miffed, but it's all better now, right? Forgive and forget?
