Just hours following this morning's news of a potential date for a big Apple product reveal, we've got some more info on what to expect the company to be coming out with shortly. There's a new pic of the Mac mini, which looks to confirm earlier rumors, and some hints at new Time Capsule backup drives on the way.

The first Mac mini pic we found looked pretty good, and there were reports at the time of the pic matching existing, unpublished shots of the compact PC. Some hardcore Apple fans went ahead and over-analyzed the picture, looking for signs of digital editing in things as innocuous as the artifacts left behind by JPEG compression. One of the big problems some amateur detectives had was that the Mini DisplayPort and mini DVI connectors didn't seem to line up with the same bottom edge as the rest of the mini's ports. They claimed that if the connectors were properly soldered to the motherboard, they should all fall along a common line.

A new pic released today shows what looks like the box art for the new Mac mini, and it confirms the older pic. While it's entirely possible that both are hoaxes, doctoring up the product box, mimicking the layout of the existing Mac mini packaging, seems like it would take too much effort to be part of hoax, especially with nothing apparent to gain.

The other potential new product from Apple could be some larger Time Capsule drives. The network attached storage devices are now available in sizes up to 1 TB, but those models are getting big price cuts. Both Apple and Amazon have begun slashing prices on the drives (Apple only for refurbed units), which some are pointing to as a sign foretelling a product refresh. With hard drives getting larger and larger, even a 2 TB Time Capsule is a possibility. For now, you can get a 1 TB model for $387, down from $500.
