There's been a lot of buzz in the Techo Chamber lately about how search giant Google may be jealous of Twitter's cornering of the emerging market for real-time search — perhaps even jealous enough for an acquisition of the microblogging startup from Evan Williams and co. who have already once sold a startup to Google with Blogger back in 2003. While the pundits hash it out, meanwhile Movable Type consultant Mark Carey put together a simple practical solution to combine the best of both worlds with a Twitter search Firefox add-on for Google.

If you use the Firefox browser but aren't familiar with Greasemonkey yet, run don't walk over to the Mozilla Add-Ons repository and install this wonderful tool that lets third-party developers customize the way particular web pages display using small bits of JavaScript. Greasemonkey is what makes Carey's add-on possible, so after downloading Greasemonkey head on over to Userscripts.org to install the "Twitter Search Results on Google" script, which simply and seamlessly adds the 5 most recent tweets for your search query at the top.

How convenient! One-stop searching for both sites and for Tweeps who might be able to provide more information. Great idea!

During a press conference I asked the question of of of Google's executives, pool steps and the answer came back that "the kind of innovation like what Twitter is doing and what we're doing is increasing search speed, relevance , freshness and comprehensiveness. pool deck Other companies will come up with solutions of course."
