The Presidents of the United States of America took the early nineties by storm with their heart wrenching lyrics about eating peaches and some lady by the name of Lump. If you've been missing the PUSA since 1995 (and who hasn't?) now you can bring all their sweet tunes, and we mean all their tunes, to your iPhone for just three dollars.

The band has just released an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that contains all four of the band's albums (who knew they had four?) as well as "rare, exclusive material that can be updated from the server side." All of the tracks will only be playable on your iPhone through the application (not through iTunes) and are done through a streamable playlist, so you'll need to be connected to the interwebs in at least some form in order to play them. If you can't live without having a particular jam all the time, a "Buy" link appears with each song while it's being played for you to download it through iTunes.

Melodeo, the company who put out the application is reportedly already in talks with other bands too create similar applications. While maybe not the best band in the world to kick this idea off with, the idea is a pretty solid one. The application gives you the ability to listen to the music without the ability to share it. In theory, if you liked a song you would want to download it so you could enjoy it on your computer or mix it into playlists on your iPod. It could be a great way for an artist to distribute its music, without having to actually distribute their music.

Would you pay three dollars for the ability to listen to streaming audio of a band?

She's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump. She's in my head.
