Unlike the more ethereal Apple rumors we had for you earlier today, the latest that just hit our radar looks like it actually has some teeth to it. A leaked, grainy picture shows what's clearly a Mac mini-type product, except the ports on this guy don't match anything in an existing model.

The biggest change is the addition of a Mini DisplayPort connector, which is featured alongside a standard mini DVI port. We can't tell if this means the Mac mini will support dual monitors, or if Apple is just giving users more connectivity options as it start transitioning to DisplayPort in most all of its products.

The FireWire hookup gets a speed bump from 400 to 800, which could be nice plus if you plan on using one of the computers as a media player, hooked up to a fast external drive. Apple also bumps the number of USB ports from four to five, which may not anything worth writing home about, but that's just one more gadget you can plug in before having to whip out your USB hub.

Apparently this is the second-such picture of the new Mac mini to come out, but media outlets were asked not to report on the first one. As it matched the visible features here, it seems likely that both are genuine. There's no indication yet as to when this new mini will be available.

I would most definitely purchase one of these for use under my HDTV. My 1.42 GHz Mac mini can't hack it as a media center.
