Fred Siebert, one of the guys behind the creation of MTV, is looking to do it again, this time on the web with the creation of a network called "$99 Music Videos".

$99 Music Videos is exactly what it sounds like; a network dedicated to broadcasting music videos that were created for under $100. The website is put on by web-production studio Next New Networks, which will also be responsible for producing the actual videos. The whole shebang is sponsored by Verizon FiOS, which apparently has come up with the overly brilliant slogan for the site, "$99 music videos are best experienced with Verizon FiOS internet."

The company is targeting small bands (both signed and unsigned) that are looking for new ways to promote their music. One video will be produced per week, and the band gives the company a three-month exclusive window to distribute it before ultimately sharing distribution rights and owning the video themselves. In addition to the actual video, Next New Networks will also produce a "making of" video so us kids at home can see how all the magic happens.

Curious to see how it all works? Check out one of the videos for yourself after the break.

It is nice to hear that there is another place for the artists to promote their music!
