It looks like analog televisions aren't the only thing going dark this week. Starting later this week Hulu content will no longer be available on Boxee. Hulu was one of the top sites requested by Boxee users, so the company built support for the site and launched it to alpha testers in October of last year.

The removal of Hulu content from Boxee doesn't seem to make either camp very happy. Hulu's content providers apparently requested that it turn off access to Hulu content via Boxee, and the site is (what looks to be reluctantly) complying with those content providers' wishes.

In a statement on its blog Hulu says "While we stubbornly believe in this brave new world of media convergence — bumps and all — we are also steadfast in our belief that the best way to achieve our ambitious, never-ending mission of making media easier for users is to work hand in hand with content owners. Without their content, none of what Hulu does would be possible, including providing you content via Hulu.com and our many distribution partner websites."

Boxee has indicated that the company plans on continuing to work with Hulu to resolve the situation, so while it may be goodbye for now for Boxee users, it isn't necessarily goodbye forever.
