Pioneer to stop producing TVs in 2010
Pioneer might also share the DVD/Blu-ray burden with another company, and it plans to focus most of its attention on audio products for the foreseeable future.

Pioneer is known for producing a wide range of electronic devices, but the harsh economy has not been friendly to the company, which is making some major cutbacks. Among its most respected products are its KURO plasma TVs, known for their excellent contrast ratios, but the news is out that all flatscreen TV production at Pioneer will end by March 2010. That means no more KURO!
This is definitely not because they're bad TVs; we wouldn't dissuade you from picking one up if you're in the market for the increasingly rare plasma TV technology. But competition from other companies has forced Pioneer (which has already been making cutbacks) to retreat and focus on its audio products. It was actually a big figure in the introduction of car CD players, so it has a noble history in that arena.
We just thought you'd want to know in case you're a particular fan of plasma TVs. Your time is running out, it would seem.
