If you had your heart set on dropping $7K on a Mitsubishi LaserVue HDTV, then you may be out of luck for the time being. Mitsubishi has told Engadget that it has "temporarily suspended production of LaserVue televisions due to a problem with manufacturing equipment used to produce LaserVue TVs," but that the company is taking steps to begin production again as soon as possible.
Mitsubishi's LaserVue TV uses uses red, green, and blue lasers to project an image onto the screen. The television uses less power than similarly sized LCD and plasma sets, and is reportedly capable of producing a color gamut twice as wide as any other consumer HDTV.
Mitsubishi expects the problem to be rectified in the first part of this year, so we should see the sets start showing back up on store shelves in the following months.
