Amazon Kindle 2 release date, price, and press images allegedly leaked
Ten convincing images hit the internet, along with word that the e-reader will sell for $359 starting February 24th. This came out of nowhere, but is it real?

The rumored follow-up to the highly-regarded Amazon Kindle is now less than a month from availability. Or, at least it is if the most recent rumor is to be believed.
Some supposedly-leaked press-style photos show a device looking strikingly similar to that seen in some earlier rumored shots of the Kindle 2 that showed us some comparable dimensions. As thin as a pencil, the gadget looks like it would be a worthy successor to Amazon's e-reader, but we've got to hold back our enthusiasm until the announcement is official, utterly convincing as these images may appear.
Other "details" reveal that the Kindle 2 will likely cost $359 and be available on February 24th, and with this alleged info leaked just days before Monday's Amazon press event, we might not have to wait long to see if it's legit. Don't you hope the price isn't legit, though? Seems a bit high.

If this is the real deal, it looks like they took some of the design criticism of the original to heart. I try never to use the word "sexy", but, damn, that thing looks sexy.

Looks awesome, but I can't get down with the price. Once it hits $200 I'm in for one.

Yeah it does look kinda sexy... but from what I read it leaves you about as satisfied as a one-night stand. I love eBooks, and I'm glad that Amazon's position as a major entity is calling attention to eBooks. However, Amazon's proprietary format is a HUGE problem. I don't want to be locked into buying eBooks from only one source, and I want to be able to read my eBooks wherever I am - including on my desktop at work. I used my sister's Kindle for a few weeks last year, and was unimpressed. There are great alternatives out there - I currently use the Cybook, which is lighter, more attractive, cheaper, and I can buy eBooks from a variety of sources (more about the Cybook). The Kindle, while frequently touted as a "huge leap forward", really exemplifies why so many people are hesitant to try eBooks.

Kindle's appearance is certainly reminiscent of Apple products
