After the rumors of a delay had already made their rounds, Apple finally decided to clear the air and send out a cordial email to those of us eagerly awaiting the arrival of our 17-inch MacBook Pros.

The message lets us know that putting the final touches on the glossy new (expensive) bundles of joy has taken a little longer than was previously projected, and the machines will now begin shipping February 19th. The option is also given to call and cancel the order (yeah right!) and receive a refund, but we doubt many Mac fans (notoriously dedicated as they are) will take Apple up on that offer.

The delay amounts to two more weeks of waiting for the machines to arrive, but that may be a small price to pay for the successor to one of the ten best gadgets of 2008.
