Like most large companies, Nintendo often has to face the unfortunate reality of being looked at as a impersonal entity as opposed to a collection of hard-working folks who could very well be your next-door neighbors. It's stories like this one, however, which challenge challenge that vision.

A particularly dedicated gamer from enthusiast blog GoNintendo recently experienced the tragic loss of nearly all his (and his family's) worldly possessions in a house fire. Among the casualties of this incident was his entire game collection, which included every Nintendo console and some 250 games. Pictured here is what remains of his Wii.

When he contacted Nintendo with a picture of his charred console, asking to transfer his Wii account onto a new system, Nintendo responded with an offer to replace his Wii console along with his Game Boy Advance which was also melted into an unusable state.

This brings some personality to a mega-corp like Nintendo. Maybe — just maybe — the folks at Nintendo haven't forgotten the customers who make them what they are, even as their money clips are nearing unprecedented sizes.
