Comeon, Apple! Let us know what's going on with the next iMacs, already! We've been following the rumors of a new revision to the all-in-one computers for some time now, hearing back in December about some potential chipsets. We were hoping for some kind of news at Macworld, but Apple left us with mostly software-related updates. Now it looks like the new iMacs are finally going to see the light of day, as Apple starts getting rid of its remaining stocks of old models.

The first inkling of this reduction in stocks comes as a warning to Apple partners not to expect fulfillment on future orders on certain 24-inch models. While Apple isn't retiring the products just yet, its message to resellers is clear: existing iMac models are old news.

As those stocks dry up, we're likely to hear an official announcement showing off the latest series of redesigns. One of the juiciest rumors we heard is that the line will be available with quad-core Intel chips, a step up from the dual cores available now. Further news of new cooling systems gives credence to the idea that the machines will run quad-cores, as those chips can get quite toasty.

If, for some reason, you really do want a 24-inch 3.06 GHz iMac, hurry up and grab one now, because there are no more of this model coming anytime soon. Personally, we'd wait and see what the next iMac revision has to offer before spending our money.

I was just planning on either an iMac or a Macbook purchase. I guess this makes the decision a little easier. Unless, of course, the new models are ultra-sexy (which I'm sure they will be...)
