Forbes magazine annually compiles a list of the most wired cities in America by looking at broadband adoption (the percentage of internet users in the city who have high-speed internet as opposed to dial-up connections), ubiquity of Wi-Fi hotspots, and number of companies providing denizens choices when they're looking for internet service. Congratulations, Seattle residents; you just beat out two-year champion Atlanta for the trophy!
At 10th place in broadband adoption, second place in service provider choices, and first place in Wi-Fi hotspots, Seattle is the most wired city in America. Atlanta slipped to second place. It came in third in both provider options and broadband adoption, but sat at a distant 10th place when it came to Wi-Fi hotspots. Not too shabby though, Atlanta!
Residents of Washington, D.C., Orlando, and Boston can boast of their tech savvy as well, taking the third, fourth, and fifth place spots, respectively. Check out the full list at Forbes to see some of the other runner ups.
