If our coverage of Palm's upcoming Pre smartphone has you salivating at the mouth, start planning the route to your nearest Best Buy. The latest rumor making the rounds this morning is that the retailer will be the only place you can pick up a Pre for the first 60 days it's available.

According to what everyone's just calling a "credible source", Sprint has signed an exclusivity agreement with Best Buy, just like it did when it started carrying the Samsung Instinct last year.

A separate rumor has placed the Pre's price at somewhere between $200 and $250, when tied to a service contract. $250 might be pushing it, but we can see the smarthpone becoming really popular at around $200. Unfortunately, none of the sources for these leaks have named a tentative release date, which we've been anxiously awaiting to hear. If you sign up on Sprint's website, they'll contact you as soon as the Pre is ready for sale.
