TV.com relaunches as Hulu competitor
TV.com, formerly just a database of TV info, has been turned by parent company CBS into an online TV-watching hub aiming to steal your attention from Hulu and Joost.

Been catching up on episodes of Heroes and 24 over at Hulu.com? You and a few million other people! CBS hopes to steal some of NBC and Fox's thunder by launching its own online site, TV.com, with some shows Hulu doesn't have from networks like Showtime and, of course, CBS.
Thing is, it's not a new site. You might have visited it before. Owned by CNET, it was in the past used by folks like you and us to check up on TV listings, read episode guides to try to figure out where we left off when we lost track of a show, and sometimes check on TV celebrity gossip. But CBS has opted to do a substantial redesign, and a bunch of new streaming video content is supposedly on the way, including Showtime's Californication and Dexter.
At this point, most shows you'd want to watch are available online. Sure, ABC doesn't have a deal with either Hulu or TV.com, but it streams some of its shows on its own website at ABC.com. TV.com has many of Hulu's videos, plus database and social features you won't get at Hulu, but its interface is messier. It's just not as elegant. Still, aren't you glad to see this internet TV thing catching on? It seemed inevitable like, two years ago. It's surprising it's taken this long!
