Microsoft servers not up to Windows 7 beta demand

Microsoft abruptly pulled the plug on the Windows 7 beta download it tried to make available earlier today, at first only offering a short message that the download would be coming soon. The company's now announced in a blog posting that the extremely heavy traffic from users excited to get their hands on the new OS proved just too much for the network hosting the files. Rather than have people sit through long downloads at low speeds, the company elected to pull the plug on the program until it can beef up the infrastructure hosting the download. With Microsoft and its vast resources, we don't expect that will take long at all.
