The big announcement at LG's CES press conference was their new mobile watch phone. We first saw the phone at last years CES as a prototype behind glass and now that prototype is ready to hit store shelves. The LG GD910 is scheduled to begin production later this year and will have 7.2Mbps HDSPA, Bluetooth, speakerphone, voice recognition, video calling, an integrated music player, and a touch screen. While we've seen watch phones before, LG is the first major manufacturer to put one into production.

Also on the cell phone front LG announced a new cell phone noise reduction technology which uses two microphones to reduce background noise when making calls in louder venues, like a street corner or the CES show floor, and a solar powered Bluetooth hands-free car kit. The kit attaches to the windshield of a car and is charged using a small solar panel. Two hours in the sun can provide one full hour of talk time on the device.

Televisions are always a huge part of LG's product announcements and this year was no different. The company announced twelve new HDTV product lines (nine LCD and 3 plasma series) with a total of 36 new models planned to hit the market in 2009 ranging from 19-60 inches in size:

  • The LH50 and PS800 series of Broadband HDTV's feature LG's "NetCast Entertainment Access." allowing them to stream content from Yahoo!, Netflix, YouTube, Flickr and Yahoo! Widgets through an ethernet connection.
  • The LHX and LH85 series both allow for wireless installation. The LHX television was a CES 2009 Innovations honoree this year. The 240Hz 55-inch screen is .97-inches thick and can wirelessly transfer 1080p video through wireless HDMI.
  • The LH90 LED Backlight HDTV comes in 55, 47, and 42-inch sizes and has the same general functionality as the LHX models except with no seperate set top box.
  • The LH85 series comes in 55 and 47-inch flavors and offers wireless full HD 1080p video from a separate media box.
  • The LH55 series comes in 55, 47, 42, and 37-inch sizes and uses TrueMotion 240Hz for a more natural picture.
  • The LU55 series comes in 26, 22, and 19 inch sizes. Designed for the bedroom and home office, The 26 and 22 inch screens are 1080p while the 19-inch has a 720p resolution.
