iRiver CES media player lineup includes P7, E50, and the updated E100 and Mplayer Eyes

iRiver brought along several new media players to show off at the CES, including updates to some of its previous product lines. The P7 is a slim flash-based touchscreen device with a 4.3-inch screen. The model is the first to feature a new user interface from iRiver, and will be available in sizes ranging from 4 GB to 16 GB. The company claims the P7 has "full movie CODEC" compatibility, failing to elaborate on just which it meant. While we don't expect it to play everything under the sun, if there's at least solid video support, this could be a win for iRiver.
If you can live without a big screen for video playback, the E50 should provide up to 52 hours of music playback on a charge. Available in 2GB and 4GB, the entry-level PMP supports voice recording and features an FM tuner. Upgrading an existing product line, the new E100 Season II doesn't add much more than new color options. Like the original E100, Season II models can display video on their 2.4-inch screens and support microSD cards for expandability. The final media player iRiver had to show off is another refresh, this time to its Disney-licensed Mplayer, an odd-looking player designed to resemble Mickey Mouse's head. Volume and track controls are actuated by twisting the "ear" knobs. This Mplayer Eyes model adds glowing LED "eyes" to the 2GB player; it hardly seems like a reason to go to the trouble of redesigning a product, as we would have liked to see at least some new storage options.
