Shure has some new headphones and microphone options in store for the CES, including an upgrade to the popular SE110 earbud model. The $100 SE115 earbuds use a new driver design, which Shure promises will improve bass response and enhance the listening experience. Like the SE110, this model uses a tight-fighting plastic seal to isolate your ear canal from the distracting sounds of the outside world. An included set of varying-size guards should help you find one that's comfortable while still providing a high degree of isolation. The SE115 will be coming out in an assortment of four colors.

Also new to the Shure lineup are two USB-based microphones, the PG27USB and PG42USB. The main difference between the $200 PG27 and $250 PG42 is in their frequency response: the PG27 has a neutral pickup that strives to accurately record its input without bias, whereas the PG42 is tweaked for vocals, extra sensitive to the the human vocal range and shock-mounted for durability. Both models offer real-time signal monitoring and an integrated pre-amp. If you've already got a high-quality microphone, Shure is releasing its X2u Adapter, an XLR-to-USB converter. The $130 box features the same monitor and pre-amp as the USB mics, and lets you attach it to any compatible XLR microphone, including phantom-powered units. All the new Shure gear should be available in stores this spring.
