Obsessable's live reverse chronological coverage of Macworld 2009 keynote follows below. Major announcements included a new 17-inch MacBook Pro with non-removable battery which Apple claims will run for 8 hours without a charge, new versions of iLife '09 and iWork '09 with new online collaboration via iWork.com, iTunes Music Store for the iPhone now works over 3G, and a $169 Mac Box Set is available that includes Mac OS X Leopard, iWork '09, and iLife '09.

At 12 PM ET, Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Product Marketing will take the stage for the final Macworld keynote featuring Apple, since the company is withdrawing from future Macworld Conventions. We'll be updating this post live in reverse chronological order with news from the event and find out if our predictions were correct. Refresh for latest news. All times are Eastern.

1:38PM - That's the end.

1:32PM - Tony Bennett comes on stage to sing "The Best is Yet to Come." Looks like there's no more news. No new Mac mini. Very surprising!

1:31PM - iTunes WiFi Music Store on the iPhone is now just the iTunes Music Store as you can access over 3G too now and it's available today. I wonder how this will effect the 5GB AT&T data cap currently on all iPhones...

1:27PM - After showing a television advertisement for the new 17-inch MacBook Pro, Schiller begins talking about iTunes, how as of today 8 million of 10 million songs are DRM free, and introducing a new pricing tier where songs will cost either $0.69, $0.99, or $1.29.

1:23PM - New 17-inch MacBook Pro 2009 should start shipping in late January and will be priced $2799 for the base configuration including 1920 x 1200 LED-backlit display, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MBs of L2 cache, 4GBs of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 9600MGT cards, a 320GB hard drive, and a slot-loading SuperDrive.

1:13PM-1:22PM - New Apple MacBook Pro 2009 17-inch laptop only 0.98 inches thick and weighing 6.6 pounds. 17-inch LED backlit display with an optional $50 anti-glare option. Cool. Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz Dual Core, 6MB L2 Cache, 8GB memory at 1066 MHz DDR3. Integrated 9400M and 9600M graphics cards. 320GB HDD standard drive or 256GB SSD upgradable drive. New 17-inch MacBook Pro should support up to 8GBs of RAM (which makes sense given the hardware inside MacBook 2008 should support the same, but Apple prevents this via firmware currently). Non-removable battery installed because with this design Apple was able to fit a 40% larger battery in the same space for longer battery life. Apple is claiming 8 hours on one charge and claims that these batteries should have a 5 year lifespan.

1:09PM - iWork.com seems to merge the desktop applications with the cloud, allowing for the ability to easily upload and notify collaborators, view documents online, add comments and notes, and download a copy for editing that syncs back up to the cloud. It does not appear that you can edit the documents online though. The beta will be free but when it launches it will be a fee-based service once it fully launches. The beta should launch later today.

1:04PM - iWork.com will be a new service so that you can share and collaborate on documents. This sounds interesting, but Google offers Google Documents for free, so I don't know how Apple will viably compete with Microsoft's Office suite on the desktop and with Google's free Google Apps if this is a paid for service. If it's free, then there's something else entirely, but will it be Mac only? How do you collaborate with Windows users?

1:03PM - New Mac Box Set includes iLife '09, iWork '09, and Mac OS X Leopard for $169. That's a pretty sweet deal for anyone who hasn't updated to Leopard yet. Should be available in late January when iLife ships.

1:03PM - Numbers '09. Hardware coming soon probably.

12:57PM - Moved on from Keynote to Pages '09. Pages includes new fullscreen view, more themes, more templates, dynamic outlines for organizing your thoughts before writing, mail merge capability that can plugin to tables and lists in Numbers '09, and the ability to work with third party software such as MathType and EndNote.

12:55PM - Keynote Remote software for iPhone where you can preview the slide show and control it from your iPhone.

12:53PM - Schiller is showing off several of the new transitions that are part of Keynote '09. New chart options as well.

12:50PM - Ending Garageband '09 and the iLife '09 demos and moving on to iWork '09. Schiller notes that he built today's keynote using iWork '09.

12:48PM - Purchasable Garageband lessons include Artist Lessons from actual performing artists like Norah Jones, Sting, and Sarah McLacklan.

12:41PM - iMovie '09 demo ends and moves on to Garageband '09. Big new feature is called "Learn to Play." Garageband now has an instructor and the instrument facing you. Lessons serve as tutors to help you learn to play the instruments. Very cool. There are nine basic guitar and piano lessons built in. Extra lessons are purchasable from built-in Garageband store for $4.99.

12:35PM - New iMovie '09 features include skimming so you can see edits before and after cuts, separate editing of audio, overlaying of audio, and video stabilization of shaky footage. The video stabilization evidently takes rendering time to process but should be a very useful feature for a lot of amateur camera men and women out there, as well as action videographers.  Another feature is giving shots aged look and the ability to create Indiana Jones-style animated travel maps, which looks pretty cool.

ASIDE: Someone hacked into Macrumors live coverage posting fake news like "Steve Jobs is dead" and Macrumors' entire site has now gone down.

12:30PM - Schiller mentions that some older customers weren't pleased with the iMovie '08 overhaul and that they've tried to add some features to appease those users. New features: Precision editor, advanced drag and drop, dynamic themes, and animated travel maps. Randy Ubillos, Chief Architect of Video Applications for Apple, joins Schiller on stage to demo iMovie '09.

12:28PM - Wraps up covering iPhoto '09. Begins showing off iMovie '09. Hopefully it's improved and moved back to the usefulness of the older iMovie HD.

12:22PM - You can now add maps to books with pins depicting the geotagged locations of images featured in the book. Schiller is now demoing iPhoto '09. Demo shows how iPhoto tries to group faces from the same person together. Next is a demo of the Places feature and how it tries to recommend locations that might be matches for what you're typing in.

12:19PM - iPhone syncing also supports themed slideshows for slideshows on the go.

12:18PM - Demoing new slideshow features. The new iPhoto face detection features help with properly positioning pictures in the slideshows.

12:16PM - I guessed correctly, Facebook and Flickr integration now part of iPhoto. Facebook users can add names to people in the pictures uploaded from iPhoto and that info gets transmitted back to iPhoto. Very neat.

12:15PM - If your photos lack geotagging you can enter a location for an entire set of shots and iPhoto will tag them all for you.

12:11PM - iPhoto '09 has new face recognition: Faces organization system, joins Events and Places, as ways to organize pictures. This sounds interesting. If Faces were to integrate with Facebook's photo system it would be really powerful. Places adds geotagging to iPhoto photos. GPS-tagged photo latitude and longitude converted by iPhoto into plain English.

12:07PM - iLife '09 announced with a new iPhoto. Maybe it will be improved now that they have competition from Google's Picasa for Mac.

12:03PM - Phil Schiller takes the stage and says he's excited to be delivering today's keynote.

11:59AM - Music playing. Welcome announcement.
