Microsoft's pay-as-you-go computer patent gets shot down

When word spread a couple days ago that Microsoft was trying to patent a pay-as-you-go computer system that would throttle computer performance and charge you money to speed back up again, the nerd rage (including ours) reached a high decibel level.

The furious storm of disapproval can pass now, though, as the United States Patent & Trademark office has rejected the patent because it was full of "fuzzy language" and stuff that had already been patented. Microsoft might appeal, but for now this thing is going on the back shelf. Are you glad?
